Aimee
Aimee was in an urgent situation when her family couldn't keep her anymore. She landed in a foster home, smack dab in the middle of the city, and it was almost too much for this country girl. Aimee spent two weeks being confused and scared of all the noises, strange dogs and strange people that now were in her life. It was almost heartbreaking seeing this dog be so mournful as to where her people went. She would slink along the floor submissively and just run to be at your feet, and not move for hours at a time. Aimee wasn't doing well in foster care, and we knew something was going to have to change quickly.

As luck would have it, and this was VERY lucky, a fellow volunteer in animal control called us about a potential adopter who had come into their shelter looking for a dog. They didn't have anything that suited him, and knew we were desperately trying to find Aimee "some peace and quiet" in a less fast-paced setting. He lived in the country alone, and had just lost his bull breed dog a year ago to old age and was looking for a companion. Arrangements were made, and Aimee was taken out to the shelter for her "meet and greet". If this didn't work, we had no idea how long Aimee would be able to endure more fostering. Oh, but it did work! The two played ball for an hour, and Aimee sealed the deal when he jumped in his truck, and put her head on his lap as to say "okay, now please get me back out to nature and the simpler life!!!" Her new dad was thrilled and the void he missed from not having a dog was filled instantly.
