LIKE WHAT YOU SEE?

Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, vet checked and vaccinated prior to adoption. Our adoption fees range from $200 to $300, depending on the individual case. We only adopt our dogs out to loving and responsible homes!

We believe in only placing the best examples of this breed, as this will be the only way for these wonderful breeds to restore their reputation that has been so badly damaged by the media and irresponsible owners. We only place dogs with rock-solid temperaments and accept absolutely NO human aggression. We avoid placing dogs with high levels of dog aggression, or who are known escape artists. It is our goal to ensure that all dogs placed by us are both physically and mentally sound. All potential adoptive homes are thoroughly screened, as it is our wish that each dog we place will serve as a breed ambassador!

JAKE

Athletic Jake loves, loves, loves to run - but once he’s had his daily exercise he has a definite "off" switch. Whether on the carpet, on the floor, or upside-down against the mini-bar, this five-year-old spends the majority of his day happily snoozing away. Separation anxiety and destructiveness is not be a problem with this boy.

Once outside, Jake will trot along at a good, even clip for many kilometres without breaking a sweat. If he is overly stimulated he may pull or try to bite his leash, but with an experienced handler and the proper equipment Jake is quite a joy to walk (his owner should be prepared to continue teaching him manners – working on his “look” and “leave it” command, for example). Jake also loves a game of fetch and some sprinting around a tennis court, yard, or lacrosse box.

Car rides are a big hit, and Jake gets super excited as soon as he lays eyes on the vehicle. Once inside he will either sleep soundly during the trip or make what his foster mom calls happy donkey (braying) noises.

Jake is very interested in other dogs and will often pull or whine to go see them, but he has no problem being around them or hanging around the local pet store. Jake doesn't have a lot of experience interacting directly with other dogs, but is generally curious and friendly. New introductions should be slow, controlled and polite to keep things positive.

Jake needs an experienced handler and a very active lifestyle. He bonds closely with his owner and is a sensitive boy: he will do best with a strong and kind leader who can set up clear ground rules, provide a regular outlet for physical energy, and has a calm and confident demeanour. Jake will respond wonderfully after so much uncertainty in his short life, and be the stellar companion he was meant to be!

KANE

For the most part, four-year-old Kane is one of the most easy-going dogs you’ll ever meet. This is a dog who has no desire to get in trouble and gets along with absolutely everyone. He has lived with kids, cats, parrots, horses and wants to be friends with any dog he meets, even the most exuberant and impolite puppy.

Despite his perfect house manners and mellow temperament, Kane has had a tough time finding his forever home. He was adopted by a loving family years ago, but had to be reluctantly surrendered when some serious medical issues arose. He came to HugABull and did wonderfully in foster care on a farm, where his gentle nature caught the attention of a family with young children. Unfortunately the family lived in a very busy neighbourhood in Vancouver, and Kane had a hard time adjusting to all the dogs around him…he wanted to meet them all so badly that he grew impatient and forgot his normally impeccable leash manners.
Since then, he’s done Pit Ed and received a ton of training in his new foster home, with wonderful results in just a couple of months. These days, Kane is very close to being the perfect, ready-made dog he was born to be. He will do wonderfully in a quieter neighbourhood with a handler who is willing to keep up his training regimen.

Kane is an active boy who is crate trained and a lot of fun. He loves toys – especially fetch. He would do great in a multi-dog household, as he loves to play and wrestle and is always very appropriate. He’d also be a great choice for someone looking for a family dog. He’s lived with small children before and is extremely tolerant and loving towards little ones.
We would love to see Kane in a loving, active family where his days of being bounced from home to home can finally come to an end. In return, he’ll be a wonderful companion who will accompany you anywhere…whether in a car, a boat, or on a farm, Kane is up for any adventure and always on best behaviour.

KOBE

Kobe, a distinguished older dog at nine years of age, is mellow and quietly confident. A bit of grey on his chin hints at his age, but this handsome boy is still playful and outgoing, willing to play fetch until he collapses in a grinning heap with his ball between his paws.

This little guy LOVES toys, especially balls, and if left to his own devices, he will bring all his little treasures to his bed and fall asleep on top of them. He likes walks (he’s a perfect gentleman on-leash) and he adores meeting new people.
Kobe isn’t overly interested in other dogs (he definitely prefers humans) but he has great manners with them, particularly when he’s outside. He’s a little more cautious inside after living with a grumpy female in his last foster home. However, Kobe would have no problem sharing a home with one or more calm dogs. (He finds the puppy in his current home a bit obnoxious, but is always appropriate with him even when he has to give a reminder about personal space).

Overall, Kobe is living proof that seniors make wonderful adopted pets. He’s a ready-made dog with no real “issues”. He’s house-broken, has wonderful inside and outside manners, and is independent enough to be left alone for normal amounts of time. Condo life would be just fine for Kobe as he’s perfectly capable of entertaining himself with his toys and stays calm and quiet. As his foster mom says, “Anyone who’s lucky enough to adopt this dog will be getting a catch…he’s just lovely!”

If you think you could offer Kobe the home he deserves, please fill out an application today!

MOTLEY

Mischievous Motley, our feisty little 1.5 year old female, loves to play ball with her human friends. She’ll toss the ball around with you, or if you’d prefer to watch, she’s perfectly capable of entertaining herself while you laugh at her antics. You’ll also marvel at her beauty - check out that unique black and blonde brindle on her cheeks!

Motley is smart and very food-motivated (cheese-obsessed!) which will help with teaching this head-strong and confident beauty that nothing is life is free (NILIF). Motley already knows how to walk in a harness, heel, sit, down, stay, shake a paw, roll over and look. Motley’s currently learning city and leash etiquette from her foster family and a trainer so a firm, positive owner who will work with Motley on her focus and dog greeting manners would be a good match.
She is very playful and dog-social but gets vocal and anxious when she isn’t allowed to meet every dog she comes across. Her foster family is teaching her that not every dog wants to be her friend! And because she’s a spirited girl who likes to chase, cats are a no-no for her.

Ms. Motley comes crate and house-trained, and while she needs a decent amount of exercise, is very laid-back indoors. She loves her toys and would do best if placed with a calm male or younger dog rather than another alpha female. Given half the chance, this little girl will steal your heart and your spot on the couch so be prepared to fall in love!

PEEPS

From her cute little name, to her bunny ears, to her cheeky personality, Peeps is quite a character. She’s an energetic, whip-smart young adult who loves her people, her playtime, and nice long snuggle sessions in-between. Her attempts to sneak under warm blankets keep her foster family in stitches!

Peeps will need a family who is active and can keep her body and brain busy. She is extremely smart and knows basic obedience as well as tricks like sit pretty, speak, high five and bang! (play dead). She would love to be in a home that enjoys brain games as much as she does, with a strong and engaged leader who will channel her intelligence into fun, constructive activities.
She is an athletic dog that loves walking and running alongside her human friends (she has good leash manners and never tries to wander). She is very tolerant of horses and does well with other dogs. Small animals may be a temptation to chase at first, but she lives successfully with cats and has even co-existed with rabbits in the house.

Peeps has tons of personality and would be a great match for an active family that enjoys training and obedience work. She would be a natural for Rally-O, agility, or to simply to be the centre of attention with dozens of party tricks! Apply today and come meet a devoted companion who won't stray from your side, and will keep you in stitches with her sassy hijinks. (And did we mention those adorable ears?)

COURTESTY LISTING - JUNIOR

Junior is a very sweet, but timid puppy. He is frightened when faced with new surroundings, situations and/or people. Enrolling him in an obedience class would be an excellent opportunity to help him overcome some of these fears. His new guardian(s) must be confident and willing to work him through some of his issues. His socialization process must begin right away. Junior is cautious when first introduced to new situations or stimuli. It's important to start off with mild exposure and give rewards for non fearful responses. He's never to be rewarded while exhibiting fearful behaviour. He can then be gradually built up to more intense exposure. Junior is friendly, affectionate and a playful puppy! It is important to have confidence and experience in correct training methods. It's highly recommended to use positive motivation/reinforcement techniques. Patience and consistency are key!

COURTESY LISTING - WILLOW

Willow is super sweet, she has a bit of a handicap, she has most likely been run over by a car, and her left rear foot has some tissue damage (it was left to heal on it's own). It no longer causes her pain but if walked on gravel/rocky areas she must wear a protective boot. She is very loving with people, and other animals, she has not had a consistent home and requires like most an energetic loving person.

For more information please contact the Squamish Animal Control 604-815-6888, or email tseille@squamish.ca
